The Restoration of Parrott Hall
Has Begun
Plans are now being made for Parrott Hall’s vibrant future.
The Past, Present, and Future of Parrott Hall
Friends of Parrott Hall, Inc., was established in October, 2017. Since the mid-1970s, Parrott Hall has been vacant. Currently under the ownership of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Parrott Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Instead of remaining forever vacant, our vision is to adaptively re-use this architectural treasure, incorporating science outreach. This would be consistent with its use for nearly 100 years as a place of science and agricultural innovation. Friends of Parrott Hall, Inc., is a 501-c-3 nonprofit organization.
Parrott Hall needs our help. The Friends of Parrott Hall, Inc., have a plan to renovate and re-use this historic structure. We are working with the City of Geneva, the Preservation League of NYS, and The Landmark Society of Western NY to make this happen.
The Mission of the Friends of Parrott Hall is to restore the physical location to its former glory. To ensure adherence to historic preservation standards, there is emphasis on high quality renovations, after years of deterioration.
The core goal of the Friends of Parrott Hall is to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the sciences, especially those related to agriculture and food, through the preservation and operation of Parrott Hall.
With the support of the local community, Parrott Hall can once again become a central hub for innovation. Our mission goes hand in hand with the economic growth of the entire upstate New York area. With its setting on the Cornell AgriTech campus in Geneva, NY, Parrott Hall will contribute not only to the Finger Lakes community, but also the many tourists who visit the pristine Finger Lakes region each year.
Our vision is to preserve Parrott Hall by working closely with the current owner, the New York State Department of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation as well as Cornell AgriTech. A Feasibility Study concluded in 2022, with a shared vision of operations that would be financially self-sustaining.
We envision the transformation of Parrott Hall into a restaurant featuring food and beverage innovations emanating from Cornell research, as well as work taking place at other area facilities. Limited housing and office options could also play a future role.
The restaurant will complement the growing restaurant / local foods scene in the Finger Lakes, while calling attention to the history of food and agricultural innovations at Cornell AgriTech. The vision for Parrott Hall is further described below.
